Trekking Safety Alert in Gandaki Province Amid Rain and Snowfall

Gandaki, October 28. The District Administration Office, Kaski, today issued a public notice urging everyone to exercise caution when trekking due to ongoing rain and snowfall in the high hilly and Himalayan regions of Gandaki Province.

Considering the risks arising from adverse weather conditions and the possibility of Acute Mountain Sickness (AMS), people have been requested not to go on treks to places like Annapurna Base Camp, Mardi Himal, Khumai Danda, Kori, and others until the weather clears up.

Trekkers are advised to adhere to the official information issued by the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology, go prepared with sufficient information about the destination, and make advance bookings for food and accommodation. They are also urged not to trek alone but in groups, and to ascend slowly without rushing.

Those on treks are requested to carry warm clothes such as gloves, hats, and jackets, a thermos with hot water, and medicines used for Acute Mountain Sickness. They are also advised to consume plenty of hot water, ORS (Jeevanjal), and liquid foods, and to refrain from smoking and drinking alcohol.
