Top Bahadur Rayamajhi Ready to Return to Prison After Escape
Kathmandu – Top Bahadur Rayamajhi, who was being held in Sundhara Central Jail for trial in the fake Bhutanese refugee case, escaped yesterday along with other inmates but has now expressed his readiness to return.
According to prison administration sources, Rayamajhi contacted officials by telephone and said he was prepared to go back to prison. However, the administration told him not to return immediately, assuring him that he would be informed once the situation normalized.
“We asked him to stay in touch with us. Once conditions are settled, we will let him know,” a prison administration source said.
The Sundhara Central Jail, which holds around 3,800 inmates, saw nearly 3,300 escape during the incident. Among those who fled was Chudamani Upreti, alias ‘Gore,’ the key figure in the infamous gold smuggling case.
