Nepal's First Commercial Rap Show 'The Rapper: Let the Verse Speak' to be Broadcast
With the goal of taking Nepali hip-hop music to new heights, Season 1 of 'The Rapper: Let the Verse Speak' has been announced. According to the organizers, this is Nepal's first commercial rap reality show.
The program is organized by NXG Entertainment and directed by Yuvraj Saud. It will be broadcast on Himalayan Television. The show is said to air from the second week of the upcoming month of Jestha, though a specific date has not been set.
Additionally, Highlights Nepal is the digital partner and Khalti is the voting partner. The show will consist of a total of 20 episodes.
Through digital auditions, the best 64 contestants have been selected from across the country. They will present their lyrics, music, composition, and rap skills in various styles.
Girish Khatiwada (Gorkhali G) serves as the main judge of the show. He will evaluate the contestants based on their lyrics, music, performance, technical aspects, and multifaceted abilities.
Similarly, the squad leaders include Bibash Jamarkattel (Bibash JK), Bibek Ghorasaini (BG Birgorkhali), Sanket Shrestha (OMG Spark), and Jagat Pun (Rex). They will guide the contestants and help refine their craft.
After passing through various stages of the competition, the Top 16 and Top 10 will eventually lead to the Top 4 finalists. From the Top 16 to the Top 10, decisions will be made based on a 50/50 split between judge and audience votes, after which only the audience's votes will be decisive.
The winner will receive a trophy along with 1.5 million rupees in cash. Additionally, finalists will be provided with the opportunity for an international tour.
Digital auditions were open until the 13th of Baisakh, in which more than 7,000 participants applied.
