Song ‘Maali’ from Nepali Film ‘Abhimanyu: Chapter–1’ Released, Video Contest Announced for Rakshabandhan
Kathmandu – The emotional song ‘Maali’ from the upcoming Nepali film ‘Abhimanyu: Chapter–1’ has been officially released. The song, which portrays the pure love and responsibility between a brother and sister, features lyrics, music, and vocals by Prashant Shiwakoti, with musical arrangement by Bisham Acharya.
‘Maali’ reflects the heartfelt bond between siblings, highlighting a brother’s devotion and care for his sister. The song narrates the story of a brother who becomes a 'gardener'—a protector and caretaker—for his sister, finding joy in her laughter and dedicating his world to her happiness.
The song has been released ahead of the Hindu festival Rakshabandhan, which celebrates the sibling bond. Alongside the release, the production team announced a video contest, encouraging brothers and sisters to create and share videos of tying Rakhi (sacred thread).
The top three video entries will win cash prizes of NPR 50,000, 30,000, and 15,000 respectively.
‘Abhimanyu: Chapter–1’ is set to release in Nepali on Bhadra 27(September 12) and in Hindi on Ashoj 6 (September 22). The Hindi version will be released worldwide, according to producer Binod Paudel.
Directed by Sushant Gautam in his directorial debut, the film features Kameshwor Chaurasiya, Sarita Giri, Gaumaya Gurung, Laxmi Bardewa, Shishir Wangdel, Kiran Shrestha, Prakash Dahal, and Sushma Niraula in key roles.
Produced under the banner of Seven Seas Cinema, the film is produced by Binod Paudel and Gunjan Giri, with Ramesh Chaulagai and Hari Shrestha as co-producers. The executive producers are Bishal Lama, Hari Moktan, Krishna Bhattarai, Nirajan Luintel, and Sandesh Shrestha.
The screenplay is by Mukesh Khanal, with Madan Thapa serving as the creative director. Other key crew members include Madan Ghimire (editor), Supreme Parajuli (color grading), Manoj Shrestha (VFX), and Sharad Mahato (DOP). The film is currently in the final stage of post-production.
