Snowfall in Northern Gorkha Affects Daily Life

Gorakha, Kartik 11. Snowfall has occurred in various villages of northern Gorkha. Local residents in different settlements of Chumanubri Rural Municipality have reported that snow has been falling since last night. Pasang Phunjo Lama, a local from Chumanubri Rural Municipality-7, informed that daily life has been affected after the snowfall.

"Light rain started last night. It began snowing during the night itself. It is still snowing," he said. "Currently, people are staying indoors, warming themselves by the fire, and the yaks are also staying inside."

Villages in this ward, situated at an altitude of over 3,000 meters, including Nile, Chule, Pangdun, Lar, Phurpe, Lamagaun, Burji, Jong, and Chekmal, are covered in snow. Similarly, villages like Samagaun and Samdo in Ward No. 1, and Syala and Lho in Ward No. 2 are also blanketed by snow.

Tourists who had gone to visit the Manaslu region have also been affected by the snowfall. Locals report that tourists heading to the Larkya Pass, located at an altitude of 5,106 meters, have been stopped in Samagaun and Samdo.
