Saugat Malla Cast in Lead Role for Film Adaptation of ‘Paral Ko Ago’

Kathmandu — Renowned actor Saugat Malla has been officially signed to play the lead role in the upcoming film adaptation of celebrated writer Guru Prasad Mainali’s story Paral Ko Ago (A Straw Fire). He will portray the central character, ‘Juthe Dhamai’.
With Malla’s inclusion, the primary cast lineup for the film is now complete. The film, produced by Sushil Pokhrel, also features Prakash Saput, Suhana Thapa, Sirjana Adhikari, Shankar Acharya, Kishor Bhandari, Kuldeep Adhikari, Saru Bhandari, Renu Neupane, and Jack Shrestha.
According to the production team, the film will also have a strong music department. The songs will be penned by Surendra Rana, Man Bahadur Mukhiya, and Prakash Saput, while the music will be composed by veteran composer Shanti Thatal, Satya Swaroop, and Prakash Saput.
The film is being made with permission from the Mainali Katha Puraskar Trust. It will be directed by Laxman Sunar, with cinematography beginning on Bhadra 26 (early September) in and around Myagdi district.
Cinematography will be handled by Sankalpa Bhujel, choreography by Ramji Lamichhane, scriptwriting by Sushil Devkota, script doctoring by Sulakshan Bharti, and production management by Nagendra Ghimire.
According to producer Pokhrel, the film aims to deliver a strong social message and the team is working with full enthusiasm.
Paral Ko Ago, included in Mainali’s acclaimed story collection Naso, was previously adapted into a film 45 years ago by director Pratap Subba.
