Kumar Gajurel Makes Directorial Debut with 'Sarathi'
The formal inauguration (shubhamuhurat) of the movie 'Sarathi', which marks the directorial debut of Kumar Gajurel, has been completed. Following the ceremony held at the Bhadrakali Temple in Kathmandu on Monday, the team has departed for Gurja Khani in Myagdi for filming.
Director Gajurel stated that the shooting of 'Sarathi' is scheduled to begin this Wednesday, Baisakh 9, in the scenic locations around Gurja Khani, with a filming schedule of approximately 40 days. Veteran editor Tara Thapa 'Kimbhe' has turned producer with this film. Producer Thapa shared that after spending nearly three decades in the Nepali film industry as an editor, he has entered production with the aim of presenting an excellent story to the audience.
Produced under the collaboration of Kimbhe Production and Dhiraj Infinity Films, the movie features the onscreen pairing of actors Uttam Pradhan and Niruta Singh after nearly two decades. The production team believes this reunion will spark significant curiosity among the audience. Actress Singh participated in the inauguration ceremony, while Uttam is prepared to arrive in Nepal on Baisakh 15 and head directly to the filming location.
Senior filmmakers Laxminath Sharma, Prakash Sayami, and Manjunath Shrestha were present as special guests at the inauguration program. Deep Bahadur Chhantyal, former General Secretary and current advisor of the Nepal Chhantyal Association, also attended as a guest.
In addition to Uttam and Niruta, the film stars Mukunda Shrestha, Samrant Thapa, Giri Bishwakarma, Gayatri Joshi, Madan Thapa, Milan Khadka, Rashmi Gurung, Tulsi Rai, Asha Bishwakarma, and others.
