Sangita Adhikari, Police Officer Who Saved Dang District Court from Arson, Receives Special Promotion

Kathmandu/Dang. Police Assistant Sub-Inspector Sangita Adhikari, who played a vital role in preventing major damage to the Dang District Court, has been granted a special promotion. On the occasion of the 70th Police Day, Police Headquarters announced Adhikari’s promotion from Assistant Police Constable(Pra.Sa.H.) to Police Constable (Havaldar).
Standing at the main door of the Dang District Court with her colleagues, Adhikari displayed remarkable courage and composure when an agitated mob began throwing stones at the courthouse. She managed to calm the crowd using an empathetic approach, saying, "Hey brother! Please, that's enough, now just leave," as she addressed them like an older sister. Her quick thinking and action prevented the surrounding mob from setting the courthouse on fire.
Recalling the intense moment, Sangita said, "The mob had started throwing stones right up to the court's door. We were scared too. But we remembered the court documents and files—that this is the backbone of our justice system, and if the court burns, decades of trust will burn to ashes."
Police Headquarters stated that the decision to grant her a special promotion was made in recognition of her extraordinary courage and presence of mind in protecting the backbone of the justice system. Her actions underscore the dedication and spirit of public service demonstrated by security personnel.
