Road Construction Progresses in Khandadevi, Ramechhap

Ramechhap. The construction of the Pakarbas–Goganpani–Galpa road in Khandadevi Rural Municipality of Ramechhap is moving forward quickly. Blacktopping has been completed on the section from Shikari Danda to Ghyangsing Danda along the 10-kilometer road.

Shyam Aryal from Aryal Construction Sun informed that the work to pitch the road from Ghyangsing Danda to Galpa will now begin. Aryal stated that 40 percent of the paving work is finished, while over 60 percent of other structural work is complete. "We will only leave after finishing all the work," he said.

According to Mahendra Sah, a sub-engineer at the District Infrastructure Development Office in Ramechhap, 4,200 meters of the road from Shikari Danda to the rural municipality office has been paved.

In the second phase, 4 kilometers of road starting from the rural municipality office will be paved, followed by the remaining 2 kilometers. "All work will be completed within this fiscal year," he said.

Diwar Om Buddha / Aryal Construction signed the contract for this road in 2021 for 430 million rupees, with a plan to finish within 18 months. However, the work did not speed up despite several deadline extensions. Local representatives had previously locked the District Infrastructure Development Office in Ramechhap, protesting that the road work was not being done on time.

Although the contractor had agreed to move the work forward many times before, there was little progress. Now that the paving has actually started, local residents have hope that the work will finally be completed.

Meanwhile, after questions were raised about the quality of the work, Anand Kumar Shrestha, Chairman of the Industry, Tourism, and Environment Committee of Bagmati Province, conducted an onsite inspection of the road. During the inspection, he instructed the contractors and technicians to ensure the work is of high quality.
