Road completely blocked due to the absence of a motorable bridge in Arughat
Kathmandu — Road connectivity came to a complete halt on Friday due to the absence of the iron motorable concrete bridge at Soti in Arughat Rural Municipality, Gorkha.
A flash flood in the Budigandaki River had swept away the iron motorable concrete bridge at Soti, which connects Wards No. 2 and 3 of Arughat Rural Municipality. Following the collapse of the bridge, transportation and movement along this road section have been completely disrupted.
On the morning of Ashwin 25 at around 5:30 AM, an avalanche had occurred from the Siringe Himal, situated between Lokpa and Chumling in Chumanubri Rural Municipality-6. The avalanche blocked the local Uingulung Khola (stream), triggering a massive flash flood in the Budigandaki River. The fierce current of this flood swept away the strategic iron motorable bridge at Soti connecting Arughat Wards 2 and 3.
With the bridge washed away and road connectivity severed, authorities reported that transportation along this section remained completely blocked as of 7:20 AM this morning. Due to the road closure, local residents and passengers traveling to and from the upper regions are facing severe difficulties in their movement.
