119 People, Including a British National, Rescued via Helicopter

Kathmandu: The Nepal Army has intensified air and ground search, rescue, relief, and medical operations in areas affected by floods and landslides.

By 7:00 PM on Tuesday, the Nepal Army rescued 119 people via helicopter, including a British national. According to the army, a total of 3,891 people—including 273 foreign nationals—have been rescued by air to date.

The army reported that 2,500 kg of relief materials have been transported by air to Dhunche, Koloni, Betrawati, and Trishuli-3A.

At Chilime Hydroelectric Project, a joint search and rescue team consisting of 26 people, including foreign personnel, entered approximately 150 meters inside the tunnel. However, the army stated that the team encountered a steep slope beyond that point, finding the tunnel completely buried.

Similarly, at Upper Trishuli-1 in Haku, the joint team penetrated about 160 meters before discovering that the tunnel was completely blocked.

At Trishuli-3A, the tunnel head has been identified, and work is underway to clear debris using three excavators. After heavy water gushed out from a hole drilled into the inlet tunnel using compressors and rock breakers, making entry impossible from that point, work is now underway to drill a new hole from the outlet side.
