Home Minister Gurung Reaches the Field for Rescue Operations Despite Criticism

Kathmandu: Two employees trapped inside the tunnel of the Trishuli-3 'A' Hydroelectric Project due to floods and landslides have been rescued safely.

Home Minister Sudan Gurung is actively present at the scene to ensure effective rescue operations and on-site coordination. Although the Home Minister's role primarily involves management and coordination, he has taken to the field himself in the flood-affected area.

On Friday, the rescue team successfully brought out mechanical foreman Sanjay Shah and mechanical supervisor Kabir Maharjan from inside the tunnel.

Preparations are underway to airlift both rescued individuals via helicopter to the hospital for immediate medical checkups and further treatment. As the rescued individuals were being carried on stretchers with oxygen support, the Home Minister was seen carrying an oxygen cylinder himself.

Reports indicate that more people remain trapped inside the tunnel, and a joint team of the Nepali Army, Nepal Police, Armed Police Force, and technical experts is continuing the search and rescue operation.

Home Minister Gurung remains on-site, facilitating the intensified search efforts by deploying necessary resources and giving direct instructions to the rescue team. However, he is facing criticism for allegedly pulling stunts in the field, seeking popularity on social media, and failing to focus on his primary responsibilities of management and coordination.
