Ramechhap Bus Tragedy: Death Toll Rises to 12

Ramechhap: The death toll in the bus accident that occurred in the Tamakoshi River at Manthali-6, Ramechhap, has reached 12. Chief District Officer of Ramechhap, Shyam Krishna Thapa, informed that the number of deceased has risen to 12. According to him, six additional bodies were recovered at the incident site.

Thapa stated that six people died during treatment at the hospital, while six bodies were found at the crash site. The bus, which was heading from Kathmandu to Pokali in Okhaldhunga via Dhobi in Ramechhap, plunged into the Tamakoshi River. Out of the eight people injured in the accident, seven have been sent to Dhulikhel Hospital.

The identities of seven of the deceased have been confirmed. They are 29-year-old Boby Tamang, 30-year-old Dipesh Basnet, and 25-year-old Dipendra Basnet of Likhu Rural Municipality-4, Bijulikot; and 35-year-old Sanumaya Tamang and 21-year-old Tara Tamang of Likhu Tamakoshi Rural Municipality-7, Tilpung. 

Additionally, the deaths of 60-year-old Man Bahadur Tamang of Bhimeshwar Municipality-8, Dolakha, and 24-year-old Shiva Shrestha of Golanjor Rural Municipality-6 have also been confirmed.

Police reported that the bus (Province 03-01-995 Kha 9975) fell into the Tamakoshi River this morning. It is not yet clear how many passengers were on board. A team of divers from the Armed Police Force is still conducting a search operation. 

The identities of the remaining deceased are yet to be established. The bus, which fell off the road, was submerged in the river but has since been pulled out.
