Rabi Not Returning to Kathmandu Today; Heading Straight to Chitwan from Bhairahawa

RSP Chairman Rabi Lamichhane is scheduled to travel directly from Bhairahawa to Chitwan today. Accompanied by his wife, Nikita, and several other party leaders, Rabi is heading to Chitwan to attend a welcome program organized by local residents of his constituency.

It is reported that Rabi will return to Kathmandu only tomorrow. Lamichhane, who was arrested in connection with the Supreme Cooperative fraud case in Butwal, had previously been sent to judicial custody following an order from the Butwal bench of the Tulsipur High Court.

However, on Thursday, a joint bench of judges Basudev Acharya and Tej Narayan Paudel ordered his release upon the acceptance of a bank guarantee. To facilitate this, he must sign a document at the Rupandehi District Court agreeing to fulfill any additional liabilities that may arise when the final court verdict is delivered.

Other conditions set by the court include accepting the bail amount previously requested by the District Court during the initial detention hearing on Magh 13, 2081 BS. Additionally, the bank guarantee of NPR 274,840,000 submitted with the petition will be secured regarding the claimed amount.

Following his release, Rabi Lamichhane must provide prior notice to the court if he needs to travel abroad for personal or institutional reasons. There are no restrictions on his travel within the country.
