Prime Minister Oli Pays Tribute to BP Koirala on His 44th Memorial Day, Recalls His Contribution to Democracy
Kathmandu — Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has paid tribute to Bisheshwar Prasad (BP) Koirala, the founding leader of the Nepali Congress and Nepal’s first democratically elected Prime Minister, on the occasion of his 44th memorial day.
Taking to social media, Prime Minister Oli expressed heartfelt homage to Koirala and acknowledged his pivotal role in leading Nepal’s democratic movement and advocating for the people’s freedom.
"On the occasion of the 44th memorial day of Bisheshwar Prasad Koirala, the founder of the Nepali Congress and Nepal’s first democratically elected Prime Minister, I offer my heartfelt tribute," Prime Minister Oli wrote. "I remember his contribution in leading the struggle for the freedom of the Nepali people and the democratic movement. My highest respect to the esteemed BP Koirala!"
BP Koirala is regarded as a pioneer of democracy in Nepal and one of the leading figures in the country’s multi-party democratic movement.
