Prachanda Urges Public to Stay Alert Amid Flood and Landslide Risks, Calls for Immediate Government Action
Kathmandu, July 20 (4 Shrawan) – Amid increasing risks of floods and landslides due to continuous rainfall across various parts of the country, former Prime Minister and CPN (Maoist Centre) Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ has urged the public to remain vigilant.
In a message posted on Facebook, he appealed to communities living in high-risk areas such as riverbanks, low-lying flood-prone zones, and landslide-prone locations to stay cautious and follow the instructions issued by local authorities and relevant agencies. He also emphasized the need for the government to take immediate steps for disaster preparedness and relief efforts.
In his post, he wrote:
“The risk of floods and landslides has increased due to rainfall in various parts of the country. All communities residing near riverbanks, flood-prone lowlands, and high-risk landslide areas should remain alert. Please follow the instructions of local administrations and relevant agencies and take necessary precautions. I request the government to take immediate steps for high preparedness in disaster risk management and response.
I also appeal to our party members to assist in disaster management, provide timely information to the public, and stay active in necessary relief and safety measures.”
Prachanda highlighted that public safety is the highest priority and stressed the need for all political parties, government bodies, and society to work unitedly during natural disasters.
