'Prabasi Jeevan' to be released on Falgun 15; Shyam and Sarita seen with actor Hamal on the poster
Kathmandu. The new film 'Prabasi Jeeban' (Migrant Life), starring 'Mahanayak' Rajesh Hamal, is set to be released across Nepal starting Falgun 15.
The film tells the story of the struggles faced by Nepalis who travel to the United States of America for a bright future and stability, and is jointly directed by Shyam Kshetri and Ram Adhikari.
Shyam Kshetri, one of the directors, stated that the film has been prepared with the ups and downs, sorrows, and challenges of migrants as its main subject.
He said, "Anyone who goes abroad will find a reflection of themselves or their surroundings in this story. We often talk a lot about the physical hardships that are visible, but we tend to ignore the mental agony that is endured. Therefore, we have shown that time and the beautiful future that follows after overcoming it in the film."
He added that the film, which focuses on mental health issues and their solutions, will be beneficial in closely understanding the lives of migrants.
The film features Rajesh Hamal, Sarita Lamichhane, Buddhi Tamang, Mahadev Adhikari, Anjela Basnet, Gagan Subedi, Lokesh BhitriKoti, Divya Neupane, Abigail Luhar, Prasu Giri, Shikha Adhikari, along with director Kshetri himself, in important roles.
The film, which also has the collaboration of 'Sejal & Sister Foundation for Nepal', features actor Hamal and actress Lamichhane who were drawn to the project because of its subject matter.
The entire film was shot in the scenic locations of America and is jointly produced by Shyam Kshetri Production and National Media Production.
Producer Robin Acharya, who has previously produced feature and short films like 'Dying Candle', 'Chakkar', 'Jai Shree Daam', 'KTM Cocktail', and 'Sarita', stated that the subject of the film itself attracted the artists. Acharya clarified that actor Hamal's association with the film was due to the compelling nature of its subject.
"Its subject matter also provides awareness; it is a story connected to the light and darkness of migrant life. We believe that the rarely discussed problem of mental health and the beautiful life that follows will be inspiring. This film has been made to be watched by those who wish to understand the reality of their family members living abroad," said producer Acharya.
Words like 'Mental Health', 'Anxiety', and 'Therapy', written in the background of the publicly released poster, hint at the film's theme. The story, screenplay, and dialogue for the film were prepared by director Kshetri himself.
Amrit Bisuwa handled the cinematography, Ram Adhikari the editing, Subash Sinchuri the background music, Devi Khatiwada the makeup, Raj Shankar and Pratik Sarki the sound recording, and Nabin Karki the music composition.
Singers like Pramod Kharel and Pratap Das have lent their voices. The film, which will be released nationwide from Falgun 15, will be distributed by RR Films.
