Acharya Laxman Panthi Appointed as Executive Director of Nepal Panchanga Nirnayak Bikas Samiti

Kathmandu. Acharya Laxman Panthi has been appointed as the Executive Director of the Nepal Panchanga Nirnayak Bikas Samiti (Nepal Calendar Determination Development Committee).

Prime Minister Karki, who also holds the portfolio for the Ministry of Culture, Tourism, and Civil Aviation, appointed Panthi as the Executive Director of the Nepal Panchanga Nirnayak Bikas Samiti. 

Government Spokesperson and Minister of Communication and Information Technology, Jagadish Kharel, informed that Panthi was appointed as per the decision of the Council of Ministers of the Government of Nepal.

Panthi was appointed as the Executive Director of the Nepal Panchanga Nirnayak Bikas Samiti through open competition. Along with Panthi, the name of Shrikesh Kaushik was also recommended for the position of Executive Director. Prime Minister Karki, who has been assigned the responsibility of the Tourism Ministry, appointed Panthi, who was recommended as the first choice, for a four-year term.

Panthi, who is currently researching for a Ph.D. at Nepal Sanskrit University, is an active figure in various religious and astrological organizations. 

He has demonstrated competent work performance while serving in leadership roles in various organizations, including the Nepal Astrological Council, South Asian Astrological Federation, World Astrological Federation, Spiritual Journalists Society, and the World Hindu Federation.

Panthi has previously served as a member of the Nepal Panchanga Nirnayak Bikas Samiti. He is also the member-secretary of the International Panchanga Decision Committee. 

Following his appointment as Executive Director, Panthi stated that he would carry out his duties ensuring the ownership of all cultures, traditions, and customs.

Professor Shambhu Prasad Dhakal has already been appointed as the Chairman of the Panchanga Nirnayak Samiti, and the members include Prof. Dr. Devamani Bhattarai, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Narayan Prasad Niraula, Ratidevi Joshi Shrestha, and Chetaraj Upadhyay.
