Pakistan’s 79th Independence Day Celebrated in Kathmandu with Zeal

Kathmandu – The Embassy of Pakistan in Kathmandu celebrated the 79th Independence Day of Pakistan with a flag hoisting ceremony held at the Chancery. H.E. Abrar H Hashmi, Ambassador of Pakistan to Nepal, unfurled the national flag. The event was attended by members of the Pakistani community, Nepali friends, and Embassy officials along with their families. This year, the Independence Day was marked with the spirit of victory in “Marka-e-Haq.”

In his message, H.E. Mr. Asif Ali Zardari, President of Pakistan, said that Independence Day serves as a reminder of the courage, unity, and sacrifices that led to the creation of Pakistan. He paid homage to Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah and the workers of the Pakistan Movement for their struggle and sacrifices.

Prime Minister H.E. Mr. Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif, in his message, highlighted that the past 78 years symbolize resilience, strong faith, and hope for a bright future. Despite challenges, Pakistan achieved numerous milestones in diverse fields — from economy to sports and from defence to information technology — where Pakistanis, with their determination, made exemplary contributions.

Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister H.E. Mr. Mohammad Ishaq Dar, in his Independence Day message, said that the recent triumph in “Marka-e-Haq” showcased Pakistan’s excellence on both military and diplomatic fronts. He underscored Pakistan’s strong response to India’s unlawful actions, which secured a moral and political victory. He reaffirmed Pakistan’s unwavering support for the Kashmiri people and their just struggle until justice is served.

Addressing the ceremony, Ambassador H.E. Abrar H Hashmi paid tribute to the historic struggle of 1947 and the sacrifices of the forefathers of the nation. He commended the role of leadership and the Armed Forces of Pakistan in repelling Indian aggression in “Marka-e-Haq.” The Ambassador reiterated Pakistan’s firm commitment to peace and progress, while stressing that the nation will always stand united in the face of challenges. A special prayer was also offered in remembrance of the martyrs who laid down their lives for the preservation of “Azadi.”
