Release Date Announced for 'Pahad', a Film Depicting the Story of Emptying Hills
The release date for the film 'Pahad', directed by Tulsi Ghimire, has been set. The film is scheduled to be released on Baisakh 1, 2083 (New Year's Day). Director Ghimire, who is also the writer, stated that the film's plot portrays the social and economic problems arising from the migration of young people abroad, leaving the hills empty, and brings this bitter reality of society to the audience.
He said, "We fixed the release date after discussions with the distributors. The date was decided by balancing the time needed to complete our remaining work and finding a suitable window for both Nepal and international screenings. Since the film's theme is familial, we are releasing it at a time when the whole family can go to the theater together."
Having worked with Madan Krishna Shrestha after 'Balidaan' and Sunil Thapa after 'Chino', Director Ghimire is confident that the collaboration between the new and old generations will yield good results. He mentioned that he found the same level of dedication toward characters and work in the new actors as he did in the veterans.
He added, "The film captures the story of the high hills becoming devoid of human settlement, illustrating our responsibility and the country's needs. While watching the film, the audience will find a sense of belonging and their own story. I am excited to work with everyone from the new to the old generation."
Produced by Ojaswi KC, the film has been cinematographed by Pramod Pradhan. Pradhan, who has filmed movies, web series, and telefilms in India, previously collaborated with Director Ghimire on 'Anyay', 'Koseli', 'Chino', and 'Dakshina'.
Produced under the banner of Bhagyaratna Films Pvt. Ltd., the movie features actors Bipin Karki, Sunil Thapa, Madan Krishna Shrestha, Renunath Yogi, Arun Chhetri, Rabindra Singh Baniya, Salona Bajracharya, and others. Director Ghimire is introducing his younger daughter, Panchami Ghimire, as an actress through this film. Similarly, his elder daughter, Bhawana Ghimire, has taken on the responsibility of Production Designer in the technical team.
Ranjit Gazmer serves as the Music Director and Bharati Ghimire as the Creative Director. With Rimpoche Lama Thing and Suresh Lama Thing as co-producers, the film will be distributed by Bainktesh Entertainment in Nepal and Seven Seas International Films in the diaspora. The publicity design was handled by Royal Bhimsen and Trident Concept.
