Online Registration and Renewal of Media Now Through Department of Information

Kathmandu, September 26, 2025 – Communication and Information Technology Minister Jagdish Kharel announced that online registration and renewal of media outlets will now be handled directly by the Department of Information.

According to the Press and Publication Act, 2048 B.S, the Director General of the Department of Information and Broadcasting has been designated as the local authority for registering online media.

Minister Kharel stated that this move aims to simplify and expedite the registration process for online communication platforms, ensuring better governance and transparency in the digital media sector.
