NRNA Steering Committee Sets Timeline for Membership and 12th Convention

KATHMANDU, Jan 6, 2026 – Following the grand unification of the Non-Resident Nepali Association (NRNA), the fourth meeting of the high-level Steering Committee was held on Sunday, January 4, 2026. 

Chaired by General Secretary Baburam (B.R.) Lama, the meeting finalized several strategic decisions regarding membership management and the upcoming General Convention.

Key Decisions:

  1. System Migration: The committee approved the transition of membership data from the High Level Committee (HLC) system to the formal Membership Registration System (MRS).
  2. Deadline Extension: The deadline for membership registration and renewal has been extended until January 16, 2026.
  3. Election Framework: Legal experts and stakeholders will be consulted through January 11 to finalize election procedures, with feedback to be presented as formal agenda items.
  4. Convention Planning: The NRNA Secretariat has been directed to begin the selection process for the 12th General Convention venue. Additionally, the committee will propose names for various convention management sub-committees in the coming week.
  5. Financial Compliance: National Coordination Councils (NCCs) have been urged to expedite the collection and submission of membership fees.
