NRNA Announces Full MBBS Scholarships for Two Needy Students in Collaboration with AIU
The Non-Resident Nepali Association (NRNA) has officially announced full MBBS scholarships for two academically gifted but financially underprivileged Nepali students to study at Asian International University (AIU) in Uzbekistan.
This initiative follows a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed between NRNA and AIU during the International Youth and PIO Conference held in Thailand last March.
Since its inception, NRNA has been dedicated to the motto "Nepali for Nepali," focusing on education, health, and social development. This scholarship program aims to harness international resources to support Nepal’s human capital by providing medical education opportunities to those who otherwise could not afford them.
Selected Candidates and Scholarship Details The recipients were selected based on their performance in the Common Entrance Exam (CEE) 2082 conducted by the Medical Education Commission and a subsequent competitive entrance exam organized by NRNA and AIU. The selected students are:
- Sachin Kumar Prajapati (21): Resident of Shuddhodhan-6, Kapilvastu, Lumbini Province.
- Bhawana Regmi (21): Resident of Bharatpur-18, Chitwan, Bagmati Province.
The comprehensive scholarship covers tuition fees, hostel accommodation, meals, visa fees, and insurance. Additionally, AIU will provide one-time airfare for the students to travel to Uzbekistan and return to Nepal upon completion of their studies.
However, the scholarship is contingent on academic performance; failure in any exam during the course will result in the immediate cancellation of the scholarship.
Service Commitment As part of the agreement, the scholarship recipients are required to serve in Nepal for a mandatory period of two years at locations designated by the Government of Nepal upon the completion of their medical degrees.
Acknowledgments NRNA expressed deep gratitude to ICC Member Dr. Kisan Bhandari for his decisive leadership and persistent efforts in making this historic opportunity possible. The association also extended thanks to the Rector of Asian International University, S.S. Dekhakanoy, and the entire AIU team for their partnership.
The announcement was formalized today, January 8, 2026, marking a significant milestone in NRNA’s ongoing commitment to social responsibility and national unity.
