Important Decisions by NRNA Steering Committee Regarding Membership and Convention Process
The eighth meeting of the Steering Committee, formed following the broad unification of the Non-Resident Nepali Association (NRNA), has made several far-reaching decisions regarding institutional strengthening and preparations for the upcoming International General Convention.
The meeting, conducted by General Secretary Gauri Raj Joshi, reviewed the progress of previous decisions and clarified that the deadline for submitting new or missing membership applications will remain valid only until midnight on January 25, 2026 (Magh 11, 2082).
The committee declared January 31 as the membership 'lock date,' on which the final list will be published. It also set a schedule requiring National Coordination Councils (NCCs) to recommend delegates between February 1 and 10, and to submit them to the Secretariat by February 14.
To resolve internal disputes, the meeting decided to prepare special procedures for selecting delegates in countries where two separate groups exist. It also maintained the rule that representatives from countries that have not paid their membership fees will not be allowed to participate in the convention.
To make coordination with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs more effective, it was decided that a meeting with the ministry, including legal consultation, will soon be held under the leadership of Presidents Dr. Badri KC and Mahesh Kumar Shrestha.
Additionally, the Secretariat has been tasked with finding a reliable international-level online voting company to ensure the upcoming election is fair and technology-friendly.
The meeting also agreed to determine the theme for the 12th General Convention, during its next session.
