Oil Corporation MD Dismisses LP Gas Shortage Rumors

Kathmandu: Chandika Prasad Bhatta, Managing Director of Nepal Oil Corporation, has stated that rumors regarding a shortage of LP gas are baseless.

Posting on the social media platform Facebook on Wednesday, he urged the public not to believe rumors of a market shortage, clarifying that the supply remains smooth and sufficient. He noted that the LP gas required for daily consumption is regularly entering Nepal.

According to him, Nepal requires approximately 90 bullets, or about 114,000 cylinders, of LP gas per day. However, in the last three days, loading from the Indian Oil Corporation (IOC) has exceeded that amount.

He stated that according to loading records, 118 bullets (approximately 149,500 cylinders) were loaded on Saturday, 115 bullets (approximately 145,700 cylinders) on Monday, and 132 bullets (approximately 167,300 cylinders) on Tuesday. Some of these bullets are currently in transit, while others are in the process of entering Nepal.

Therefore, he requested respected consumers not to stock gas unnecessarily. Additionally, he clarified that gas supply will continue at the current volume throughout the election period.
