Nepali Feature Film ‘Janakranti’ to Be Made

Kathmandu – A Nepali feature film titled Janakranti, based on the events surrounding the movement for the establishment of the republic in Nepal, is set to be produced. On Saturday, the first poster of the film was unveiled by Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’, the first Prime Minister of Republican Nepal.
Speaking at the unveiling, Prachanda expressed his belief that the film would help the younger generation understand the struggles endured for the establishment of the republic and the subsequent social, political, and economic conditions. He emphasized the importance of educating youth about the state of society during that period.
The film Janakranti will be produced under the banner of Rudraksh Films Pvt. Ltd. and will be directed by Upendra Timilsina. According to the production team, shooting will begin in the second week of Bhadra (late August). Producer Rudra Prasad Khanal shared that the film is scheduled for release on Fagun 1 (mid-February).
Director Timilsina stated that the film’s story will cover the background of various movements that contributed to the establishment of the republic. The production team added that this fact-based film will make it easier for the younger generation to understand Nepal’s political developments.
The shooting locations for the film will include Rukum, Rolpa, Jajarkot, Jumla, Kalikot, Banke, Bardiya in western Nepal; Dhankuta, Khotang, Bhojpur in eastern Nepal; and Sarlahi in the Terai-Madhesh region.
