Nepali Army Carries Relief Materials on Foot for Jajarkot Landslide Victims
Jajarkot: The Nepali Army has transported relief materials on foot to support locals displaced by floods and landslides in Risang, Bheri Municipality–2, Jajarkot.
Vehicle movement from the district headquarters was cut off after landslides washed away the access road, creating severe difficulties in transporting relief supplies to the affected area.
Following the road blockade, personnel from the Nepali Army’s Bhawani Dal Battalion carried the supplies on their backs to reach Risang and nearby affected settlements. Female soldiers serving in the battalion also actively participated today, helping carry and distribute relief items to the landslide-affected residents. According to the Nepali Army, the supplies had to be delivered on foot via hazardous trails due to the lack of road access.
Locals displaced by the floods and landslides are currently taking shelter in schools and temporary camps. Residents expressed relief over the army's assistance, noting that delivering essential items—such as food, tarpaulins, and blankets—had become extremely difficult due to the blocked roads.
Security forces, local governments, and other agencies continue to work continuously on rescue, relief, and rehabilitation efforts in the affected areas. Priority is currently being given to moving residents from high-risk zones to safer locations and ensuring the delivery of necessary relief supplies.
