Nepal Gas Association Assures Steady Kathmandu Supply, Urges Against Panic Buying

Kathmandu: The Nepal LP Gas Industry Association has stated that the supply of LP gas in the Kathmandu Valley remains regular, urging consumers not to unnecessarily hoard gas.

Issuing a press release on Wednesday, the association noted that gas transportation via bullets had encountered difficulties due to recent floods and road blockages along the Krishnabhir section of the Prithvi Highway. According to the association, flooding in the Bhote Koshi River caused damage in several districts, including Rasuwa, Nuwakot, Dhading, Gorkha, and Chitwan.

Following the road blockages, and under the instructions of the Nepal Oil Corporation, gas cylinders from industries in Kathmandu, Kavre, and Dhading were transported to plants in Bara, Parsa, Chitwan, Dhanusha, and Nawalparasi to be refilled and supplied back to the Kathmandu Valley.

According to the association, the daily demand for gas in the Kathmandu Valley is approximately 40,000 cylinders. For the past three days, cylinders have been refilled in various Terai districts to meet this demand and distributed in the Valley. The association assured that additional cylinders will be refilled in the coming days to maintain a regular supply.

The association also recalled that it had maintained the LP gas supply and distribution system even during past crises, such as the earthquake, economic blockade, and the COVID-19 pandemic.
