Nepal Expresses Deep Condolences and Announces Aid for Flood-hit Sri Lanka
Kathmandu, December 1: The Government of Nepal has expressed deep sorrow over the widespread destruction and loss of life caused by the recent devastating floods in Sri Lanka.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued a statement on Sunday, conveying condolences to the Government and people of Sri Lanka.
Based on the warm spirit of bilateral relations, the statement mentioned that the Government of Nepal stands firmly with Sri Lanka during this difficult time.
The Government of Nepal offered condolences and tribute to the families of the deceased and wished for the quick and complete recovery of the injured.
As a gesture of solidarity, the Government of Nepal has decided to provide US$ 200,000 (Two Hundred Thousand American Dollars) in assistance for relief and rehabilitation efforts.
The statement concluded by noting that the Government and people of Nepal are firmly confident in the indomitable courage, strength, and patience of the Sri Lankan people as they rise again from this tragic incident.
