13th National Dress Day and International Topi Day Being Celebrated

The National Heritage Conservation Foundation Nepal is set to celebrate the 13th National Dress and International Topi Day with special programs, just as in previous years. This campaign, which started in 2013 with a demand for Nepal's formal national dress, is now entering its 13th year.

The Foundation will hold a candle-lighting ceremony on the evening of Poush 16 at Basantapur in memory of the martyrs injured during the Zen z movement. On the morning of Poush 17 (January 1) at 8:00 AM, a morning procession accompanied by traditional Panchebaja music will take place in the Basantapur Durbar Square area.

Founder and program chairperson Rajananda Mandavya informed that a ceremony to honor personalities who have made significant contributions to various sectors of the country will be held at the Nepal Tourism Board's hall from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM on Poush 17.

The honorees include senior engineer Shankar Nath Rimal, who redesigned the national flag; Nepal JCZ 2026 President Jiban Karki; Miss Nepal 2025 winner Luna Luitel; International Topi campaigner Shankar Banjade; lyricist Lokraj Adhikari; educationist Deepak Sharma; journalists Rajan Nepal, Bhojraj Thapa, and Arabinda Gautam; Taekwondo referee Dipendra Dhakal; writer Archana Jha; and spiritual preachers Sanjelji Maharaj, Dipkishore Bhattarai, and Kabindra Neupane (Baman).

Organizers shared that the event at the Tourism Board hall will be attended by banker Anil Keshary Shah, actor Pradeep Khadka, Chairperson of the Dalit Commission Honorable Devraj Bishwakarma, Chairperson of the Madhesi Commission Honorable Dr. Vijay Kumar Datta, Dr. Bhawani Rana, and Government Spokesperson and Minister for Information and Communication Honorable Jagadish Kharel. 

The campaign concludes that the movement to unite Nepalis worldwide through dress and culture has achieved meaningful success.
