Much-Awaited Film ‘Maitighar’ to Release on September 29

 August 8

Kathmandu: Maitighar, presented by Rohit Adhikari Films Pvt. Ltd., is ready for release. Directed by Milan Tamang, the film will hit cinemas across Nepal starting this Dashain festival—on Asoj 13, 2082 (September 29), the day of Phulpati.

Carrying the central theme “A daughter’s birthplace is not her true home, her maitighar is,” this film is a new and modern version of the classic Maitighar movie made in 1966. The original’s superhit song “Pran Bhanda Pyaro Maitighar – Maitighar”has also been included in this updated version.

The recently released eye-catching poster gives a glimpse of the main cast, which includes Prakash Saput, Kedar Ghimire (Magne Buda), Dhiraj Magar, Upasana Singh Thakuri, and others—sparking curiosity among audiences.

The poster also carries Dashain 2082 greetings, confirming its festive season release. The film is produced by Japan-based NRN ICC Vice President Robin Sherchan and Dhiraj Tamang, with Ishwar Shrestha and Niraj Katuwal serving as executive producers. The story is by Chandrakumar Dong, while the screenplay and dialogues are by Ramsharan Pathak.

Maitighar is expected to shed light on an important aspect of Nepali society—focusing on daughters, women, and the concept of maitighar (a woman’s parental home). The production team believes the film’s release will add to the Dashain festivities, and there is a strong possibility of simultaneous premieres in both Japan and Nepal.
