Mortal Remains of Yukta Gurung Brought to Kathmandu; Relatives Overcome with Emotion at the Airport

Kathmandu: The mortal remains of Nepali mountaineer Yukta Gurung, who died during a mountain climbing expedition, have been brought back home.

Gurung's body was flown to Tribhuvan International Airport on Thursday aboard a Qatar Airways flight.

Family members and relatives broke down in tears upon seeing the body, casting a somber mood over the airport.

The mortal remains have been handed over to the family for final rites and tributes.

According to senior Nepali mountaineer Mingma David Sherpa, all necessary procedures to repatriate the body were completed through coordination between the Government of Nepal, the Department of Tourism, and the Nepal Mountaineering Association (NMA).
