21st Memorial Day of Thado Bhaka Singer Dhanmaya Tamang Observed
Kathmandu. The 21st memorial day of the famous Thado Bhaka singer, Dhanmaya Tamang, has been observed through various programs. Born on Falgun 20, 1987 B.S. in Kaphal Swara Purkang, Lamjung, singer Tamang passed away on Poush 5, 2061 B.S.. In her marital home at Parewadanda, Sundarbazar Ward No. 2, the ward office organized a memorial assembly on the morning of the 5th, where garlands were offered to her statue.
The memorial day was celebrated in the presence of her daughters, granddaughters, other family members, and villagers.
Similarly, her son, Dr. Ash Bahadur Tamang, observed the memorial day by lighting lamps at her statue located at his residence in Raniban, Kathmandu.
He visited Swayambhu early in the morning to light lamps again and express his tribute to his mother. The son, daughter-in-law, grandson, and granddaughter all joined together to remember singer Tamang and light lamps.
Dr. Ash Bahadur Tamang, who had even performed Thado Bhaka duets with his mother, remarked that she was not only a loving mother but also a distinguished talent of folk music, stating that his mother's evergreen creations still resonate today.
Furthermore, remembering singer Tamang's contribution to music, the Sangeet Sadhana Pratisthan in Itahari organized a cultural program.
On the occasion of the 21st death anniversary assembly of singer Dhanmaya Tamang, her songs were performed in her memory. During the program, the chairperson of the academy, Raju KC, stated that the immortal creator of Thado Bhaka, singer Dhanmaya Tamang, was a personality who achieved a distinct height in Nepali folk music.
He added that even though her physical body is no longer with us, her evergreen creations continue to echo among us.
