Lyricist Honor for Arju Bishta 'Salyani'
Pokhara, Kartik 11. This year's Lyricist Honor will be presented to Arju Bishta 'Salyani'.
The Lyricist Foundation, Nepal, announced that it will present the Lyricist Honor 2082, consisting of 5,555 rupees, a shawl, and a certificate of honor, to lyricist Salyani in Pokhara on Saturday, Kartik 15, on the occasion of its third convention and fifth general assembly.
Vice President Anurag Adhikari informed that the foundation's executive committee approved the recommendation of the talent selection committee, which was headed by the foundation's founding president Harihar Khaniya, with lyricists Saraswati Shrestha 'Saru' and Suraj Upadhyay as members, and President Shital Giri and Secretary Rupindra Prabhawi as ex-officio members.
Born in Khalanga, Salyan, lyricist Bishta has been active in journalism and literary writing in Pokhara since 2058 B.S. He currently works as the news chief at Radio Annapurna.
Bishta, who has released two musical albums, Sagar and Jhyamma Jhyamma, is known for popular songs including Jit Matrai Kahan Ho Ra..., Jhyamma Jhyamma..., Thokinda Thokaima..., and Lau Aayo Volleyball, Aha Rara Gold Cup Ma.... Approximately 300 of his songs have been recorded.
Previously, he has been honored with awards such as the Gajendra Bhandari Memorial Journalism Award, the Bindabasini National Music Journalism Award, and the Rapti National Music Award.
The honor, which is presented every two years to Nepali lyricists who have contributed to the field of songwriting, has previously been received by Prakat Pageni 'Shiva', Shital Kadambini, and Saraswati Shrestha 'Saru'.
