Loss of Lives in Rasuwa Flood: Concerns Raised in National Assembly, Questions Over China’s Role
Kathmandu – The devastating flood that struck Rasuwa on Asar 24 (July 8) was seriously discussed in the National Assembly.
On behalf of the Janata Samajbadi Party, Nepal, National Assembly member Mohammad Khalid Siddiqui expressed sorrow over the loss of lives and extended his gratitude to the Nepal Army, Nepal Police, and administration for their immediate involvement in rescue and relief operations.
Siddiqui blamed the lack of early warning from China as a major reason behind the scale of the disaster.
He stated, “Whether the disaster was caused by flooding or a glacial burst, had China issued a timely alert, the loss of lives could have been minimized. In the coming days, it is crucial to adopt special precautionary measures in such situations.”
