Dhiraj and Miruna's 'Kusti' to be released on Ashoj 9

The Nepali film 'Kusti', produced and directed by Anil Yonjan, is set to be released on the upcoming Ashoj 9. The film, which was shot in Kathmandu and surrounding areas, was scheduled for an Ashoj release following consultations with distributors and exhibitors, according to Director Yonjan.

He said, "We fixed the release date after consulting with our distributors and exhibitors. Accordingly, the entire team, including myself, is working on the technical aspects of the film. Kusti is a sweet journey of emotions between people who can neither live apart nor stay together. Filled with emotionality and humor, this film is a romantic comedy drama."

Director Yonjan stated that the audience will see the story of a couple who love each other but struggle to stay together due to differences in temperament. The film features performances by actors Dhiraj Magar, Miruna Magar, Pushkar Gurung, Luniva Tuladhar, Bholaraj Sapkota, Dikila Sherpa, Rabindra Jha, Rajaram Paudel, Kiran KC, Suryaman Limbu, Arwin Gurung, Rajani Gurung, Subarna Thapa, and others.

This is the debut Nepali film for Dikila Sherpa, who succeeded in reaching the Top 15 and winning the 'Miss Multimedia' title at this year's 61st 'Miss India 2026'. She had previously won the 'Miss Teen Fashion Icon' title in 2021, which early on showed her passion and potential for beauty pageants. Dikila gained recognition from the popular Indian reality show 'Splitsvilla' Season 5 on MTV.

The director mentioned that proposals for international screening rights are being received from distributors, and overseas release dates will be finalized soon. Both domestic and expatriate Nepalis are excited to see the pairing of Dhiraj and Miruna on screen. According to Director Yonjan, discussions regarding film screening rights in several countries are in the final stages.

The film features cinematography by Umang Shahi, editing by Mitradev Gurung, music by Deepak Sharma, Anil Yonjan, and Kalyan Singh, color correction by Renish Phago, background score by Shailesh Shrestha and Rohit Shakya, and choreography by Shishir Khati. OSR Digital is the digital partner, while the dress design was handled by IIFT (Dhiraj & Miruna). The film will be distributed for exhibition by Reach Entertainment and Apple Entertainment in Kathmandu, and by FD Company in the outskirts.
