First Quarterly Public Hearing of Khajura Rural Municipality Concluded

Nepalgunj – The first quarterly public hearing of Khajura Rural Municipality, Banke, for the fiscal year 2082/083 was successfully conducted with facilitation by BAS Nepal. Organized by Khajura Rural Municipality, the hearing resulted in the announcement of six-point public commitments.

The commitments made include: resolving obstacles and issues related to the construction of canals under the Sikta Irrigation Project by coordinating with local residents and Sikta Irrigation authorities for proper land management; prioritizing the construction and reconstruction of damaged roads and pathways, including the road to Digau under Ward No. 3; regularly updating the municipality’s progress and financial reports; implementing awareness programs through the municipality to reduce and control incidents related to illegal drugs; and effectively advancing coordination between citizen policing and the municipality.

The hearing, facilitated by BAS Nepal Director Hemraj Bhatt, included the declaration of citizen report cards and public opinions by BAS Nepal’s Public Relations Officer Madhav Karki, while the Chief Administrative Officer, Dil Bahadur Paudel, provided information on the municipality’s progress and key achievements during the first quarter.

Questions and concerns raised by participants at the hearing, held at the Khajura Mini Park hall, were addressed by key officials including the sitting Rural Municipality Chairperson, Dambar Bahadur Bk, Vice-Chairperson Manju Malla, Chief Administrative Officer Dil Bahadur Paudel, Ward Chairpersons, and Executive Members.

At the conclusion of the hearing, the chairperson committed to completing the announced commitments in order of priority. The hearing was attended by over 160 participants.
