11th Annual General Meeting of Kathmandu Goods Transport Entrepreneurs Association Concludes
The 11th Annual General Meeting of the Kathmandu Goods Transport Entrepreneurs Association has concluded. The assembly was held under the chief hospitality of Indra Bahadur Baniya, former Minister of State for Home Affairs and President of the Nepali Congress, Bagmati Province.
Speaking at the event, chief guest Baniya stated that it is essential to make the transport business effective. He mentioned that the country faces many difficulties when the transport system is inefficient and urged local governments to implement necessary measures in this sector.
Additionally, Baniya informed that a decision has been made to waive taxes for this fiscal year for vehicles that were completely destroyed during the Gen-Z movement.
He said, “In today's world, when the transport system is not effective, the country has to face and suffer from many difficult situations. When the transport system is efficient, we can better advance the journey toward a quality life and prosperity.
Therefore, the transport business is a significant industry. It is necessary and indispensable for the nation. We must solve the problems faced by this business one by one.”
The President of the Association, Pushpa Raj Shrestha, stated that the transport business is the backbone of the country. He mentioned that the association is moving forward with the goal of delivering goods to customers effectively and on time in various places, including remote and rural areas, while also emphasizing social work.
Furthermore, he noted that transport entrepreneurs face unnecessary hardships during the movement of goods and urged the government to ensure a clear and integrated transport act and procedure.
Speaking at the program, Bagmati Province Assembly Member Uddhav Thapa, Acting Mayor of Nagarjun Municipality Sushila Adhikari, and others emphasized the need to make the transport business more dignified and organized.
