Kathmandu Police Warn Against Spread of Misleading AI Content After Assault Case
Police have taken into custody a vehicle driver who assaulted and mistreated a pedestrian on the Ring Road section at Narayangopal Chowk in Kathmandu.
The District Police Range Kathmandu stated that legal action has been initiated against the driver and further investigation is underway in accordance with the applicable laws based on the nature of the offense.
Meanwhile, the police have expressed serious concern over the circulation of misleading photos, videos, false information, and AI-generated audio-visual materials related to the incident by various social media users.
The authorities have clarified that spreading such content, which misleads the public during an ongoing serious investigation, is itself a punishable offense.
The District Police Range Kathmandu has warned that such activities conducted on social media may also come under investigation. The police have earnestly urged all citizens to use social media responsibly, uphold public accountability, and fulfill their civic and moral duties.
