Kathmandu Metropolitan City to Clear Encroached Public Land and Non-Compliant Structures
Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) and the Kathmandu Valley Development Authority have decided to remove encroached public land and structures that violate the prescribed standards.
In a public notice issued on Friday, it was informed that a joint meeting held on Asoj 2 decided to remove the encroached public land and structures that do not comply with the standards.
The notice states: "According to Chapter 7 and Section 45 of the Local Government Operation Act, 2074, building structures should not be constructed in violation, and as per Section 97 of the same Act, the responsibility and obligation for the protection, development, and management of public land and property lies with the local level. Therefore, we hereby inform you to remove any actions carried out in violation of this within seven (7) days and cooperate."
The notice further informs that a warning has been issued, stating that action will be taken if the encroached and non-compliant structures in public places within the Kathmandu Metropolitan City area and adjoining areas of Kathmandu district are not removed.
