Karnali Accident a Result of State’s Extreme Negligence: Chief Whip Thapa

Nepali Congress Chief Whip Basana Thapa has stated that the bus accident in Karnali is a result of the state’s extreme negligence and mockery towards the Karnali region.

Speaking at the House of Representatives meeting on Monday, Thapa expressed that while the Karnali accident has brought tears to the entire region and the nation, it is deeply saddening that even after all this time, the state machinery has failed to make the full details and reality of the incident public.

Noting that such accidents are not new to Karnali, she commented that the roads there have currently become more like 'death traps' than actual roads.

"Blood is being spilled almost daily on the roads of Karnali. Those roads are no longer roads; they look like death traps. How much longer must Karnali suffer this fate? What kind of system is this where people have to risk their lives every single time they travel?" she questioned.

Thapa warned that the people of Karnali are being deprived of their right to safe travel, and if the state does not show seriousness now, such incidents will continue to recur.

"Do the people of Karnali have to die just to see heaven? Is untimely death the only thing written in their destiny? I am not ready to call this an accident. This is the state’s extreme negligence and a mockery of Karnali," she said.

Chief Whip Thapa drew the government's serious attention toward immediately taking concrete steps to upgrade the Karnali Highway, ensure road safety, and prevent such accidents in the future.
