Joginder’s 22nd Gaijatra Presentation: “Mission Nautanki”

Kathmandu — Popular comedian Shiv Shankar Rijal, known as ‘Joginder Panwala’, annually releases satirical comedy content targeting the festival of Gaijatra. This year too, he has released a Gaijatra comedy special titled “Mission Nautanki”, launching a scathing satire on politicians.

In “Mission Nautanki”, he addresses major national concerns like corruption and the misconduct of political leaders. He also sharply mocks the recent political phrase “Miss 84” — used by leaders from various parties — by turning it into a numerical satire. “Mission Nautanki” has been released through OSR Digital.

According to Rijal, the project aims to entertain audiences through satire on politicians’ actions and the social distortions and wrongdoings in society.

As with every year, he has included parody in this year’s Gaijatra gift as well. This time, he has created a parody of the hit song “Laideu Maya Pirim” from the popular film Jatrai Jatra. The parody touches on Ravi Lamichhane’s imprisonment, political misconduct, corruption, looting, and more.

Since 2004 (2061 B.S.), Rijal has been consistently presenting his Gaijatra specials, and “Mission Nautanki” marks his 22nd installment. Last year, he released a piece titled “Luchachudi”.

Apart from Rijal, the cast of “Mission Nautanki” includes Radhika Hamal, Prem Sharma Paudel, Sabitra Lamichhane ‘Sabu’, Dhirendra Singh, Kiran Khanal, Bedmani Adhikari, Balram Dhamala ‘Thule Dai’, Sabina Bik, Bhim Pariyar, and child artist Posna Shrestha. Rijal himself has written, presented, and directed the production.

Rijal stated that Gaijatra is a grand festival for comedians, and like every year, he has brought a Gaijatra satire this year as well. “As always, I believe the audience will show love for my presentation this year too,” said Rijal. He is currently busy preparing for the Gaijatra program organized by the National Dance Theatre.
