'Jalaki' Starring Upasana and Sonam Packs Up in 39 Days

The filming of the movie 'Jalaki', directed by Ashok Thapa Magar, has wrapped up. The production team announced that the shooting concluded in 39 days, with the final scene captured last Saturday at the Pokhara International Museum.

A song sequence featuring the lead actors was filmed in Pokhara on Saturday. With the completion of the shoot, post-production work has officially begun, according to director Ashok. The production team is now preparing to announce the movie's release date along with the unveiling of its first-look poster in a few days.

Actress Upasana Singh Thakuri plays the lead role in this movie. This marks her second collaboration with director Ashok after 'Khusma', a film that won her the National Film Award for Best Actress. Upasana appears highly enthusiastic about 'Jalaki' as well.

The movie, based on a triangular love story, features Sonam Topden, Shilpa Maskey, Maotse Gurung, Buddhiman Tamang, Astitwa Bhattachan, Sahara Hangma Limbu, Raju Regmi Magar, Usha Khadgi, Khadga Bahadur Pun (Khabapu), Luniva Tuladhar, Sangeeta Thapa, Bhawana Magar, and Raj Kaucha Gar alongside Upasana. 

Captain Bijay Lama appears in a special appearance, while Munjan Thapa Magar, Nulumma Bantawa Rai, and Rinchi Dhanaha Magar feature as child artists. Miss Sikkim Sahara Hangma Limbu makes her debut in the Nepali silver screen with this film.

'Jalaki' refers to a stone pillars revered as a symbol of faith in the Magar community. A Jalaki is typically built as a token of love and remembrance for someone. The movie, which revolves around this theme, was filmed in three phases: first, second, and third.

Shot across various locations in Rukum, Rolpa, Myagdi, Baglung, and Pokhara, the film reflects the culture of the Magar and Gurung communities. The film's producers are Om Gharti Magar, Bir Bahadur Lama, Chandra Bahadur Bhattachan, Betane Magar (Babita Rana), Man Bahadur Dhanah Magar, and Sushmita Budhathoki.

Produced under the banner of M Media Pvt. Ltd., the movie features Shailendra D. Karki as the DOP, Raju Regmi Magar as the line producer, and Mahesh Baral as the chief assistant director. The music is composed by SD Yogi and Sarit Rai, with lyrics written by Surendra Rana, Harka Saud, and Ram Abiral Bista.

'Rukum Maikot', a song from director Ashok Thapa Magar's debut directorial film 'Khusma', achieved a historic record by gaining 100 million views on YouTube within five months. Since 'Khusma' was a box office hit, the production team remains optimistic about 'Jalaki' as well.
