Individual Arrested for Fraud Promising Visas to Canada

Kathmandu — An individual has been arrested on charges of committing fraud by promising to send a victim to Canada.

On Wednesday, police arrested 33-year-old Chudamani Rakhal, a native of Modi Rural Municipality–5, Parbat, currently residing in Suryabinayak Municipality–8, Bhaktapur. He is accused of extorting money by luring people with promises of attractive salaries for foreign employment in Canada.

The arrest was made by a police team deployed from the Kathmandu Valley Crime Investigation Office, Teku, from Suryabinayak Municipality–2, Bhaktapur. The operation followed a complaint filed by a victim alleging that Rakhal had taken NPR 185,000 under the pretext of sending them to Canada and subsequently went out of contact.

He has been handed over to the Department of Foreign Employment in Tahachal, Kathmandu, for further investigation and legal action.
