Significant Increase in Remittance Inflows During the First Six Months of Fiscal Year 2082/83

Kathmandu. Remittance inflows into Nepal have increased significantly in the first six months of the current fiscal year 2025/26. According to data from Nepal Rastra Bank, remittance inflows increased by 39.1 percent to reach Rs 1062 arba 93 crore during the period. In the same period of the previous fiscal year, remittance inflows had increased by only 4.2 percent.

In the month of Poush 2082 alone, remittance inflows reached Rs 192 arba 62 crore. In the same month of the previous year, Rs 122 arba 44 crore in remittances had entered the country. 

During the review period, remittance inflows measured in US dollars increased by 32.3 percent to reach 7 arba 50 crore US dollars. In the same period of the previous year, such inflows had increased by only 2.7 percent.

During this period, net secondary income (net transfer) reached Rs 1168 arba 2 crore. In the same period of the previous year, such income was Rs 833 arba 86 crore.

Similarly, during the review period, the number of Nepalis taking final labor permits (institutional and individual-new) for foreign employment reached 2,06,807, while the number of those taking re-entry labor permits stood at 1,94,733. 

In the same period of the previous year, the number of those taking new labor permits was 2,30,439 and the number of those taking re-entry labor permits was 1,62,628.
