Hitendra Shakya Faces Personal and Professional Setbacks
Hitendra Shakya, former Executive Director of the Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA), is facing severe personal and professional challenges. His house in Jwagal was recently set on fire during protests while his family was inside, leaving his wife in trauma.
Professionally, Shakya was removed from his post by newly appointed Energy Minister Kulman Ghising, despite previously working cooperatively with him. Now Shakya has been reassigned as a specialist at the Water and Energy Commission Secretariat.
He returned to Nepal last Saturday, shocked by the destruction of his home and now under pressure to arrange shelter for his family.
