First Snowfall of the Year in Shailung, Ramechhap
Ramechhap — Snowfall has started in the Shailung area of Ramechhap since yesterday. This is the first snowfall of the year in Shailung.
The snow has covered villages and hills such as Daduwa and Gaushwara, turning the entire Shailung region white. With the snowfall, the area has become even more scenic.
According to local resident Dawa Sangbu Sherpa, snowfall has been recorded in places including Kholakharka and Bagdhunga.
Local farmers are also happy following the snowfall. They say that snow helps make the soil more fertile and provides necessary moisture to farmlands, which leads to increased agricultural production. “Snow enhances soil fertility and reduces pests and diseases in crops,” he said.
Potatoes and vegetables are the main agricultural products of the Shailung region. Farmers believe that snowfall will help increase potato production. With the snowfall, an increase in the number of tourists visiting Shailung to enjoy the snow is also expected.
In recent times, Shailung has been emerging as an attractive tourist destination for visitors from Kathmandu and nearby areas.
