First Glimpse of Psychological Thriller 'The Blue Light' Unveiled on Benisha Hamal’s Birthday
Kathmandu — The first glimpse of the psychological thriller film The Blue Light has been released. The production team unveiled the initial look and poster of the movie on the occasion of lead actress Benisha Hamal’s birthday.
Set to release on Mangsir 12 (late November), the teaser presents characters grappling with psychological distress. It opens with a daughter narrating a disturbing dream of her father’s death to him, visibly frightened, and the father trying to comfort her. He reassures her, saying that dreaming of someone’s death means that person will live a long life.
The teaser then shifts to a young woman who, after feeling vulnerable, tries to make herself strong and brave by carrying a weapon. It also shows another woman overhearing footsteps, highlighting the theme of fear and the struggle to overcome it — evoking a sense of suspense and tension for viewers. The teaser clearly establishes the film as a psychological thriller.
In this initial look, three main characters are presented against a blue backdrop — Benisha Hamal, Arpan Thapa, and Shristi Shrestha — all shown with intense, stressed expressions. Shristi, in particular, appears with an angry look, holding a blood-stained axe, hinting she may have recently used it on someone.
The Blue Light is directed by Baliram Chauhan, marking his directorial debut. Chauhan was the writer and chief assistant director of the much-anticipated film Balidan.
Presented by Skyfall Pictures, the movie features Benisha Hamal, Arpan Thapa, Mahesh Tripathi, Aayushman Deshraj Joshi, Shristi Shrestha, and Suraksha Itani in key roles. Child actors Grishma Katuwal and Sahara Sharma are also part of the cast.
The production team has yet to reveal details about the characters or the full storyline. Director Chauhan has stated that these will be unveiled gradually.
Produced by Baliram Chauhan (Gatsby), the film is co-produced by Bholanath Katuwal and Raman Grey. The executive producers are cinematographer Narendra Mainali and lead actress Benisha Hamal. Mainali has also handled the film’s cinematography.
Aakash Ukheda serves as the chief assistant director, Relija Shrestha is the production designer, and Dilip Pant is the production controller.
