Filming Begins for Biopic ‘Captain Saab’ Based on Pilot Rameshwar Thapa’s Life

Kathmandu – The filming of the movie Captain Saab has officially begun. The shoot commenced on(Saturday) from Dhunkharka, Bethanchowk in Kavrepalanchok.

The film had its official inauguration ceremony on Asar 26 (July 10) at Gaurighat. Cinematographer Krishna Bahadur Thapa is handling the camera work, and filming will take place in various locations including Kathmandu, Chitwan, Kavre, and Birgunj.

Directed by Dipendra K. Khanal, Captain Saab is a biopic based on Captain Rameshwar Thapa. Thapa, a pilot by profession, is also a businessman and media entrepreneur.

Presented by Patakatha Production, Yarsa Studio, and Rich Entertainment, the movie features actor Khagendra Lamichhane, actress Surakshya Panta, and Sanjog Rasaili in lead roles.

Dipendra had previously cast Khagendra and Saugat as leads in the film Dhanapati. This project marks the first time all three are working together in a single film since then, although Dipendra and Khagendra have continued to collaborate.

Along with Yarsa Studio, Rich Entertainment has also joined in producing the film. Director Dipendra himself is one of the producers, alongside Karan Shrestha and Srishtima Khanal. The executive producer is Sirjana Napit.

The film, written by Dipendra K. Khanal himself, also includes Saugat Basnet as chief assistant director, Royal Bhimsen (Trident Concept) as poster and publicity designer, Eki Thekpa as production designer, and Rohit Raj Gautam and Bishnu Budhathoki as production managers.

As filming began, director Khanal stated that Captain Saab aims to be a unique cinematic experience. Although based on the memoir Into the Fire (Barud Mathi Udda) by Captain Thapa, the film will take cinematic liberties to blend the ups and downs of his life into a fully entertaining movie.
