'Everest View Trail Race' receives international recognition

Solukhumbu. The ‘Everest View Trail Race’ organized by Dudhkoshi Rural Municipality of Solukhumbu has gained international recognition. This adventure race, which is being organized with an emphasis on tourism promotion, nature conservation and sports development, has received official recognition from the world-famous ‘Ultra Trail’ organization in France.

In addition, the International Trail Running Association has awarded 3 points to this race. After completing the recognized race, runners receive points based on the difficulty of distance and altitude, which helps them in being selected for other world-famous international races. Running competitions such as Manjushree, Sindhupalchowk and Runuku organized in Nepal have also received such recognition.

After receiving international recognition, Rural Municipality Chairman Buddhikiran Rai has said that the campaign to connect sports with tourism, nature, culture and adventure travel has gained significance. It is believed that this will facilitate the promotion of local natural and cultural heritage to the world. The 48-kilometer race has an elevation gain of 2,914 meters. The maximum time limit for completing the race is 7 hours and 45 minutes. Considered to be geographically challenging, this race will truly test the endurance and ability of the runners.

The race will start from the under-construction Korku Stadium, located at an altitude of 1,803 meters above sea level, and will proceed towards Mahabhir. Mahabhir is known as the best rock climbing and abseiling destination in Nepal. After reaching Siliguri, the runners will be able to view the world's highest peak, Mount Everest, as well as snow peaks such as Kanchenjunga, Numbur, Thamserku and Mera Peak.

The highest point of the race is Kudham High Camp at 3,181 meters, where runners will also experience the enchanting Blas Waterfall during the journey. The main religious site of the trail is the Kailashnath Mahadev Temple, where, according to mythological beliefs, Lord Mahadev rested while returning from Halesi. The race will end at the Korku Stadium via Kailashnath.
